Nicholas Roerich made 'Vyas Kund' with paint, though I’m not sure when. What strikes me is how he's used these blocks of color to build up the landscape, kinda like stacking stones, right? There's this gorgeous, almost unreal, blue that dominates, but then you’ve got these earthy browns and golds in the foreground, anchoring the whole thing. Look at the peaks of those mountains, they're almost glowing. Notice that band of gold highlighting the lower ridgeline. It's like the sun’s blessing the earth. And the way he's defined the ridges with just a few strokes of dark paint, it’s so economical. Roerich reminds me a little of Marsden Hartley in the way he simplifies and stylizes landscape, but there’s also something otherworldly about his vision. It's not just a mountain, it's a spiritual place. Art is like that, always echoing and transforming.
