Harrie Gerritz made this print, 'Op de weg van de steenbok', which translates as 'On the Road of Capricorn', using lithography, here in the Netherlands. It’s like a playful constellation of shapes and symbols floating in space; triangles, squares, a blue Capricorn, and a spiral all dance above what looks like a hand-drawn graph! I imagine Gerritz arranging these elements, shifting them around until they felt just right. There’s a lightness to it, a sense of experimentation. Look at that blue Capricorn – it almost seems to be leaping off the page, doesn't it? Gerritz’s use of simple shapes and a restricted color palette creates a visual language that feels both modern and timeless. It reminds me a little of Joan Miró's playful surrealism, where forms float freely, inviting us to make our own connections. It's as if he's charting not just a path, but a state of mind.
