Gianni Piacentino made Pink-Yellow Pole III with, well, a pink and yellow pole! It's an invitation to see things in a totally new light, to slow down and notice the world around you. The Pole is simple, right? It's not trying to be anything it's not. I’m interested in how the colour and the surface play together. The finish isn't too shiny or too matte; it's just right. And the way the square base reflects the light? The piece becomes part of the space around it. There's a harmony there, and when you stand with it, I feel like you're drawn into a dance of light and shadow, space and form. I can't help but think about Donald Judd when I see Piacentino. Judd was obsessed with seriality and simple forms, but Piacentino? There's an almost playful quality that reminds you that art is a dialogue, always building on what came before, always finding new ways to surprise us.
