Eugene Brodsky made this triptych, titled "Explosion", on paper. Each sheet is a world of its own, unified by these earthy palettes. There’s something beautifully unstable here. The paint is applied thinly, almost like a wash, letting the paper breathe, punctuated by decisive, dark outlines. Look at that first panel, the soft grey form outlined with confident black; like a cloud or a thought taking shape. The texture is smooth, with subtle variations that invite closer inspection. You can almost feel the brush dancing across the surface. There's a conversation happening, a dialogue between forms that reminds me of Guston's late work, that same embrace of the raw and the personal, and a testament to the never-ending possibilities within artmaking. What do you see in each sheet? Each panel is both finished, and yet pregnant with what may come next.
