This is 'Erepenning van het Staatsbedrijf der PTT, toegekend in 1942 aan Marinus W. Bos' made by Leendert Bolle. It's got a nice silvery sheen, and you can see how the artist has worked the metal to create different textures and depths. I love how Bolle uses this limited palette to create such depth and complexity. The surface isn't smooth, but textured, almost like it has a pulse. The lettering is bold and geometric, it reminds me of skyscrapers, and I like how it contrasts with the more organic shapes around it. There's a real sense of dynamism here, a feeling of movement and progress. That little figure holding a horn on the right side of the image is particularly striking. It feels like they're announcing something important. This piece resonates with the work of artists like Hannah Höch, who were also exploring themes of modernity and industry through collage and assemblage. Art's an ongoing conversation, you know?
