Daniël Dupré created this landscape with river, walkers, and cattle using pen in gray ink and gray wash. Notice the bridge, a motif which appears across epochs and cultures. In ancient Rome, bridges symbolized imperial power, connecting vast territories and facilitating the flow of resources and armies. Yet, the bridge also represents a profound psychological symbol. It is a metaphor for transition, transformation, a passage from one state of being to another, embodying both the hope of new beginnings and the inherent risks of the unknown. Here, this unassuming bridge, with its humble construction, channels that same symbolic power. It reminds us of the ever-present human desire to overcome obstacles, connect disparate realms, and traverse the unpredictable currents of life. The symbol's non-linear progression has resurfaced and evolved, mirroring the shifting landscapes of human experience.
