Ray Price, who lived a long life, made this ‘Dress’ with an unknown medium. The piece gives me the sensation that it was about taking time, in applying each little dot, each soft line. I can't help but feel a closeness to the hand that worked on this. The colour is soft, barely there, so subtle you have to lean in close. It’s like the ghost of a memory, a whisper of what once was. It's not a photorealistic illustration, but a piece about feeling and time. I can almost smell the fabric, feel its texture. I am reminded of the work of Giorgio Morandi, whose paintings of bottles and vessels share a similar meditative quality. ‘Dress’ is more than just a drawing; it's a portal.
