Paul Klee conjured these ‘Summer houses’ with paint on paper, in a small format that invites you to lean in close. The way he layers marks and colors, it's like he’s building up a dreamscape, one tiny brushstroke at a time. The texture feels almost woven, like he’s not just painting but also threading colors together. Check out how the stark black lines of the houses contrast with the soft washes of blues and greens. There’s this one area, where a series of delicate white lines criss-cross, connecting the houses like a spider web. It’s so fragile, like it could disappear with a breath, yet it holds the whole composition together. It reminds me of the way Cy Twombly built worlds out of line and tone, creating something both grounded and ephemeral. Klee's approach reminds us that art is an ongoing experiment, a playful exploration of how we see and feel the world.
