Bauhaus Building, Dessau, 1925-1926: Workshop wing from the east c. 1926
Editor: So, this is T. Lux Feininger's photograph of the Bauhaus Building in Dessau, taken between 1925 and 1926. I’m really struck by the geometric starkness of the facade. What do you see in it? Curator: Well, the Bauhaus was all about 'art into industry,' right? And here Feininger really captures that with a fresh eye. Look at the way the light bounces off those glass panels, like a musical score made of light. Doesn't it almost sing? Editor: It does have a certain rhythm. I hadn't thought of it like music. Curator: These artists were trying to create a whole new world. They believed that design could literally rebuild society. Isn’t that a beautiful thought? Editor: Absolutely. It's fascinating to see that vision captured in a single frame. Curator: Indeed, it's a testament to the Bauhaus spirit, alive and well in a photograph.
