Adnan Coker made 'Çerçeve', which translates as 'Frame' in English, using sombre oil paints, and hard-edged shapes. I imagine him delicately layering dark colors, gradually building up a sense of depth and stillness. The more I look at that centered lozenge of light emerging from the darkness, the more I feel like I'm peering into a meditative space, or maybe even a doorway in his mind. It's a minimal composition, yet it evokes so much: a touch of Rothko’s atmospheric colour fields mixed with something else. The paint looks thin, like watercolour almost. Painters, we’re all in this ongoing conversation, you know? Coker, Rothko, me, maybe even you – constantly exchanging ideas and inspiring each other across time. We embrace ambiguity, uncertainty, and multiple interpretations. It leaves you pondering the mysteries of light and shadow long after you've walked away.
