Keith Haring made this mural on the side of a building in Paris, probably using brushes and spray paint. It's so direct, you know? The black lines are confident and thick, kind of like a comic book, but also ancient, like cave paintings. The colors—red, yellow, blue—are so primary, so basic, but they pop against the raw concrete. You can feel the energy of the hand and body moving as he painted. The way the figures interlock and repeat reminds me of patterns, like wallpaper or textiles. Haring's work always felt like a conversation with the world. He took art out of the gallery and put it on the streets, making it accessible to everyone. His paintings have the boldness of someone like Léger, but with a playfulness all his own. Ultimately, it's about seeing the world with fresh eyes, finding joy and connection in unexpected places.
