This Jabot pin in gold filigree was made by the Rozendaal Brothers. It's hard to say when, exactly, but let's imagine those brothers working together, carefully twisting and shaping delicate gold threads into this intricate design. I love how the metal almost seems to be woven. The patterns remind me of lace, or maybe even tiny architectural details on some grand building. The gold isn't flashy; it's got a soft, muted glow, like something precious worn close to the heart. You can almost see the hands that made it, feel the patience and skill involved. In the same way that different forms of painting offer ways of seeing, thinking, and experiencing the world, this little pin is a conversation of its own. It makes me think about how each gesture, each twist and turn, is a form of expression, a way of communicating something beautiful and lasting.
