Carles Delclaux Is made ‘Obsessió restringida’, but when, or with what, I don’t know. It is one heck of a woven image. The image is vibrating with zig-zags, and dancing with all those funny little rectangles like someone playing a wild computer game. The texture! You want to touch it, right? It’s so flat and smooth, unlike a painting, there’s no impasto, no brushstrokes, but it has this incredible depth of colour. Look at how the colours shift and change depending on the light, especially those tiny blocks of colour. They feel so precise, but also kind of wonky, like they were made by hand. It feels so personal, so obsessive. It reminds me of those early computer graphics, but also Agnes Martin, with her quiet, meditative grids. It's like Delclaux Is is having a conversation with both technology and art history, and who knows what they are really talking about? That’s what is so exciting.
