Editor: This is "Oystermouth Castle" by J. Martin of Canterbury. It looks like watercolor on paper, and the atmosphere feels so melancholy and evocative. What symbols stand out to you in this piece? Curator: The castle ruin, of course, dominates. What does a ruin signify? Often, loss, the passage of time, the fading of power. Note how it’s being overgrown. Does that suggest nature reclaiming what was once human dominion? Editor: I see what you mean. The muted colors add to that feeling of something fading away. Curator: Exactly. The artist is using visual language to speak about history, memory, and the inevitable decline of even the grandest structures. Editor: I hadn't considered the symbolism so deeply. Now it feels much more layered. Curator: Visual imagery is always more potent once we recognize what lingers in the memory of the symbol!
