"Dites Merci (Furnishing Fabric)" is a printed textile created by J. P. Meillier & Cie, a French firm, circa 1798. The fabric features a lively, intricate pattern with repeating figures and imagery. The white ground is covered in a delicate red-toned design of birds, animals, and a variety of natural elements. The composition is full of whimsical scenes, showcasing the artistic influence of the French Rococo style. This fabric, now part of the collection at the Art Institute of Chicago, is a beautiful example of 18th-century French textile craftsmanship.
