This untitled piece by Antonio Asis is alive with floating circles and pure colour. It's a symphony of graphic shapes, each one carefully placed, but somehow still feeling totally spontaneous. You can tell it’s about process. Look at the surface. It's not trying to hide anything. The colours are direct – bold reds, blues, blacks, and whites. It’s kind of flat, but also kind of alive. It feels like he’s exploring the relationships between the different colours and how they float against the neutral ground. Take the lower right section, there is a small blue circle overlapping a red semi-circle. This gives the whole piece a grounded feeling, which allows the other shapes to dance in the space. It makes me think of those early 20th-century experiments with abstraction, like the work of Sophie Taeuber-Arp. It’s like Asis is having a conversation with her, riffing on her ideas, but in his own distinct way. It's about the ongoing dialogue of art.
