Antonio Asis made this untitled painting, its date unknown, using a simple palette of black, red, and grey. It's a really striking combination of geometric forms that feels both playful and precise, you know? The composition is all about circles and semi-circles floating on what seems like a paper-y surface. Looking closely, you can almost feel the slight texture of the paint and paper. I like how the flat colour gives a sense of depth through the layering of shapes. There’s this one red circle, outlined with a thicker ring, that has a little grey dot inside, like a tiny planet. It really draws the eye, doesn’t it? This piece reminds me of some of Malevich’s Suprematist compositions, but with a little more… humor? It's a dance of shapes that doesn't take itself too seriously. Isn't it fascinating how something so simple can create such an interesting conversation?
