Bag c. 18th century

This 18th century, anonymous, hand-woven silk bag is a beautiful example of 18th century textiles. The bag is decorated with a floral motif, featuring small sprigs and leaves, and larger paisley-like shapes accented with red and blue. The overall effect is one of delicate beauty, typical of the era. The bag, measuring 9 3/4 x 6 3/4 in. (24.77 x 17.1 cm), is currently housed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
