This page, by J.A. Jerichau II, was made sometime around the turn of the last century, probably with whatever paper and pen were at hand. I imagine the artist hunched over this notebook, caught in a torrent of thought. The ink meanders across the page like a restless spirit, each stroke a fleeting idea struggling to take form. The writing feels like a raw, unfiltered outpouring, a cascade of consciousness captured in the moment. I can almost feel the scratching of the pen, the weight of the words pressing into the page. Jerichau's hand moves swiftly, desperately trying to keep pace with the rush of thoughts. There's a sense of urgency here, like the artist is racing against time to capture something profound. This reminds me a little of Cy Twombly's scrawled paintings—that sense of capturing the immediacy of thought. It’s like he’s saying, this is me, thinking.
