This album box was made by Geldolph Adriaan Kessler; we don’t know exactly when. What I find so striking is the way the dark surface seems to absorb light, making the object appear almost velvety. The box feels aged, bearing the marks of time and use. The color is deep and earthy, somewhere between brown and black, like old leather or well-worn wood. A small, rectangular label is stuck to the top, its edges worn and faded, hinting at hidden stories and forgotten memories. Look at the corners: the way they are slightly frayed and worn adds to the sense of history. This box reminds me a little of Joseph Cornell's boxes, inviting us to fill it with our own imagination and memories, transforming the mundane into something precious. Like a conversation that evolves over time, each layer of wear and tear adds depth and meaning, inviting us to see the world with a little more patience and curiosity.
