This silvery print, entitled 'Lente,' has a direct, unadorned quality. With the full bloom rendered in a soft focus, the photographer seems interested in capturing the essence of the plant's vitality and ephemerality rather than precise details. It’s about a moment, a fleeting, beautiful one. The woman’s body in the background is turned at a slight angle. She is looking down towards the plant, in what seems like a soft moment of introspection. Her dark dress and the building behind create a tonal contrast with the lightness of the plant's bloom. I can almost feel the crispness of the air and the hopefulness that comes with Spring, don’t you think? The simple composition and the careful balance between light and shadow remind me a little of the work of Karl Blossfeldt, who also dedicated his life to photographing plants. Like Blossfeldt, C.N.F. finds beauty in the everyday, inviting us to slow down and appreciate the small miracles of nature.
