Akkitham Narayanan created this print, Saundarya Lahiri, using a mix of geometric and organic forms rendered in earthy tones of red, brown and gold. The composition is structured around a central circle intersected by horizontal bands, immediately suggesting a sense of balance and order. Look closer, however, and you'll notice that this symmetry is subtly disrupted by the placement of swirling motifs and patterns. This creates a dynamic tension, pulling the eye in multiple directions. The geometric shapes may appear as fixed symbols, but their integration with fluid, biomorphic elements challenges any singular interpretation. The work seems to explore the relationship between structure and chaos, inviting us to consider how seemingly disparate elements can coexist within a unified whole. In doing so, Akkitham destabilizes the traditional understanding of harmony, reminding us that true beauty often resides in the delicate interplay of opposing forces.
