M.F. Husain made this painting of a horse's head with what looks like big, confident strokes of white paint against a dark background, punctuated with these slashes of red. I can almost see him working, adding layer upon layer, pushing the paint around until this image emerges. You know, it's interesting to think about how the texture of the paint itself becomes part of the picture. It’s thick, almost sculptural in places. I imagine Husain standing in front of the canvas, thinking about movement, energy, and the raw power of this animal. That eye—it’s like a vortex. It draws you right in. This piece reminds me of other artists who are obsessed with horses, like Franz Marc, or even some of the ancient cave painters. There’s something so primal about capturing the essence of these creatures. Painting is like a big conversation across time. Each artist adds their own voice, their own perspective. It's never really about getting it “right,” but more about exploring, feeling, and letting the paint lead the way.
