Nassos Daphnis made this painting, "Energies in Outer Space," with I imagine a very fine brush, or maybe he used tape, who knows? Look at those crisp lines and floating circles! I can almost feel him, patiently layering each stripe, choosing just the right shades of black, red, and green. What was he thinking as he made those circles – were they planets, portals, or just playful shapes dancing in his mind? The composition reminds me of the op art of Bridget Riley, or maybe even Agnes Martin's grids. You know, when I paint, it’s like having a conversation with the canvas. It begins with an idea, but the paint takes over, leading me in unexpected directions. I wonder if Daphnis felt that too. Did he plan everything out, or did those lines and circles emerge from a more intuitive place? Either way, I love how artists, through their work, invite us to explore new dimensions, both out there and in here!
