Leo Leuppi made this untitled painting with what looks like oil on canvas. It’s got this cool geometric vibe mixed with these bold, expressive black lines, like the artist was caught between order and chaos, or maybe just having a really good day experimenting! I can imagine Leuppi, brush in hand, stepping back, squinting, and then diving back in, trying to balance those graphic shapes with the playful energy of the lines. Check out that lower looping gesture – it almost feels like it’s dancing off the canvas. The colors are muted yet vibrant, kinda like a faded memory with a pop of something unexpected. The whole thing reminds me of early 20th-century explorations of form and space, that reminds me of Kandinsky who was also trying to find new ways of seeing the world. It's like Leuppi is also in on the conversation. Paintings like these always give me permission to embrace the messy, unpredictable, and, most of all, the searching process of art-making.
