It’s as if Delizy is saying, "Look closely, pay attention to what's right in front of you." And those two women standing in the archway – are they locals or visitors, what are they talking about? The sepia tones make it feel like a memory, something distant and dreamlike. It reminds me a little of Atget, that Parisian photographer who documented the streets and buildings of a disappearing world. Both artists capture something essential about a particular time and place, an attempt to freeze a moment. Ultimately, art is just trying to figure things out, asking questions instead of giving answers.
