"Group of 17 Early Stereograph Views of British Churches" is a series of 17 stereographs of various churches in Great Britain created by Sedgfield's English Scenery between 1850 and 1919. The collection is housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. These early stereographs were made by placing two cameras side by side, capturing two slightly different angles of the same scene. When viewed through a stereoscope, the two images merge creating a 3D effect. This image depicts a view of a British church with a tall spire, framed by bare trees and a stone wall. The stereoscopic image is a great example of early photography, revealing the intricate details and grandeur of the church architecture.
