Editor: This drawing, "Lisi" by Markus Raetz, features layered strokes of color. It's abstract, yet I see a vague, shadowy figure. What symbols or deeper meanings do you find in this work? Curator: Consider how the obscuring marks mimic memory itself. We see an echo of a figure, struggling to emerge. What emotions does that evoke? Editor: A sense of longing, maybe even loss? Like trying to grasp something that's fading away. Curator: Precisely. Raetz uses the visual language of incompleteness to tap into our own experiences with remembering and forgetting, building emotional resonance. Editor: I hadn't thought about it in terms of memory. Curator: The beauty lies in how the image invites us to project our own stories and feelings. Editor: That makes the artwork much more relatable, even with its abstraction. Thanks!
