Last Supper, from Passion of Christ 1575 - 1600

Jan Sadeler the Elder engraved "Last Supper, from Passion of Christ" on a metal plate sometime in the 16th century. The scene shows Christ and his disciples gathered for their final meal. Above them, cherubs look down, symbols of divine love and guidance. The table is adorned with food and drink, elements of a sacred ritual. This scene echoes in countless artworks throughout history, from the Byzantine era to modern times. The iconography carries a potent emotional charge. Note the figure of Judas, who is portrayed in the lower part of the image, money in hand, as he receives payment for his betrayal.
