This necklace was handmade by an Ida ou Semlal Amazigh (Berber) artist and it’s a glorious clatter of amber, coral, and silver. I imagine the artist sourcing the materials, each bead and coin carrying its own history. Picture her hands, carefully threading and arranging, balancing color, texture, and form. I feel a real intimacy in this process – the way the artist has put it together. It looks like it’s been made with care, but also with flair, like she’s having fun making it. The warm amber tones contrast with the cool silver of the coins; the rough texture of the coral against the smooth, polished beads. Each element feels like a brushstroke, building up a composition that’s both chaotic and harmonious. Like a Cy Twombly sculpture! It's a reminder that art isn't confined to the canvas – it can be worn, adorned, and carried with you.
