Soey Milk made "Medicine," and it’s like the canvas is her playground. She's not just painting what she sees, but what she feels, almost like a dance. I'm drawn to the way she layers things, like those drips and drabs of paint that create a kind of watercolor veil. You can almost feel the artist making choices as she goes. See those little tassels dangling from the figure's hands, how they just barely float on the surface? It’s like they're caught between worlds, like the whole painting really. It reminds me a little of Cecily Brown, the way she lets the paint do its thing, messy and alive.
