This etching by Chris van der Windt, called "Old House with Woman", is made up of these tiny, tight marks. It's all in the details, right? It’s amazing how much information he can get into such a small space. Look at the woman by the side of the house, the wall seems to almost crumble with the lines. There’s a lot of texture happening here. You can almost feel the roughness of the thatched roof and the aging of the building. Each line feels deliberate, but when you put them all together, it's like a whole world. It reminds me a little of Piranesi, who was etching imaginary prisons way back when, but with a homey, intimate touch. And maybe that's what art is all about, right? Taking something, remixing it, and making it your own.
