An Exaggerated Rejuvenation. “Just two or three sessions with me, Monsieur, and anyone who still claims to find a grey hair on you, is a malicious person.” As a matter of fact, since the end of the second session, Monsieur's head looks as shiny as that of a newborn baby, plate 52 from Les Beaux Jours De La Vie c. 1845

This lithograph, created by Honoré Daumier in 1845, is titled "An Exaggerated Rejuvenation" and is one of the plates from Daumier's "Les Beaux Jours De La Vie." It depicts a comical scene in which an older man is having his hair dyed by a woman. The man is looking at himself in a mirror and seems to be horrified by the results. Daumier was a social satirist and used his art to criticize the hypocrisy and absurdity of the wealthy and powerful. This work humorously critiques the lengths people went to in the 19th century to appear younger.
