Benoit Maire created this installation, Letre, to disrupt our perception of the relationship between objects and meaning. Maire, who was born in 1978, came of age in a world that was rapidly being transformed by digital technologies. His work often reflects on this shift, and how it has changed the way we interact with the world around us. The arrangement of screens, frames, and miscellaneous objects creates a dialogue between form and function. These objects are deliberately positioned to invite us to consider how we assign value and interpret the world around us. By disrupting traditional artistic representation, Maire challenges us to question the narratives we construct about ourselves and the objects that surround us. At the heart of this work lies a reflection on how technology mediates our understanding of reality, even when we think we are experiencing the world directly. Consider how this piece shapes and reflects our own engagement with an increasingly mediated world.
