Benoit Maire’s *Sticker Beings* seems to be an intuitive response to a studio space, translated through the eye of a sculptor. It has a playful sensibility, it’s not precious and feels open to chance. I bet Maire liked the idea of bringing together ordinary objects and materials to create something unexpected. The placement of each element looks effortless, but I bet it took him ages. It’s all about relationships – the juxtaposition of materials, forms, and textures, creating an almost philosophical assemblage. I find it easy to relate to Maire's work. It reminds me of my own studio practice, where I like to experiment with collage and found objects, layering and layering, until something interesting emerges. I like how it makes you think about the relationships between things that are close together. It's an ongoing exchange of ideas across time, inspiring creativity. Painting can be a form of embodied expression, embracing ambiguity and uncertainty.
