This is an untitled print by Luchita Hurtado, and right away, you can tell she's not trying to hide the process. It's all there on the surface – the marks, the textures, the layering of colors. You get a real sense of the hand at work, which I find so appealing. The colors are earthy, with these pops of teal and gold that give it a kind of cosmic vibe. And look at the way she's built up the surface, almost like she's carving into it. There's this one area, near the top, where the yellow bursts out like rays of light. It's messy and raw, but it's also really beautiful. The shapes are abstract but also vaguely organic – like maybe they're plants, or landscapes, or even figures. It reminds me a little of Hilma af Klint, who was also exploring these hidden realms through abstraction. Ultimately, for me, this piece is about seeing – about looking beyond the surface and finding something deeper.
