Otto Freundlich made this "Komposition" with paint and probably a brush or two. There's something so joyful about the geometry, it feels like a construction, a building, a city maybe. It's an active space. The colors are singing. It's not about making a perfect shape, but feeling it out and getting it down, this is a painter's painting. Like that little yellow triangle tucked into the lower left, it’s sharp and flat, a little accent that pulls you in. The surface isn't smooth, there are so many textures which give the painting an amazing presence. It makes me think a little of Paul Klee, that same kind of childlike wonder and attention to detail, color and form. There’s no real end point in a work like this, no destination, just a constant state of becoming.
