Lajos Kassak made this Constructivist Composition using flat, geometric shapes and a wild colour palette. I imagine him carefully choosing each colour, placing each shape with intention, adjusting and readjusting until it all snapped into place. The longer I look, the more I see the artist trying to build a new kind of space with paint. All these shapes pushing and pulling against each other. Look at that green diamond! It's not just sitting there; it's got this energy, like it wants to break free. And the circle up top, a warm orange against a hard black background, is kind of soothing, right? Kassak was part of a big art conversation at the time. Everyone was trying to figure out how to represent the world after so much change, and he was doing it with these bold, simple forms. It's like he was saying, “Let’s start over, let’s build something new, something better.” And even though it's just paint on paper, it feels like a real invitation to imagine a new world.
