Holger Hansen made this beautiful drawing of a silver mug using graphite on paper. It’s amazing how just a few shades of gray can bring out the gleam and shape of this everyday object, right? Look at how Hansen uses the graphite, building up these soft layers to show the mug’s rounded form. You can almost feel the cool, smooth surface just by looking. It’s the kind of rendering that makes you think about light and reflection, but also about how we see things, how our eyes play with shadows to understand form. And there's something so still and quiet about the drawing, focusing on this single object. Hansen makes you think about how something so simple can be so full of subtle detail. It makes me think of Morandi, the way he could find endless fascination in a collection of bottles. It’s like Hansen is inviting us to slow down and really look.
