This work, Aerial Landscape, was made by Laddie John Dill. It looks like an experiment with light and form, kind of like a stage set. Dill uses light as a sculptural material, playing with red and blue hues to create a striking contrast. The physicality of the work is really interesting; you have this sense of depth created by the layering of materials and light, almost like looking into a fiery landscape from above. The way the colors bleed into each other, it's hard to tell where one element starts and another ends, which gives it this kind of ephemeral quality. The sharp angle of the blue line contrasts with the more diffuse light, creating a sense of tension. It reminds me a little of some of James Turrell's light installations. Dill really pushes the boundaries between sculpture, painting, and installation. It’s less about fixed meanings and more about embracing the experience of seeing.
