Andre Kertesz made this photograph 'Chair with French Horn' with a camera, lens, and probably a darkroom. The image seems so simple but the arrangement of the objects is so perfect that it feels like a painting. I can imagine Kertesz wandering around his studio, maybe it was his home too, and seeing these objects. He moves the chair, he hangs the horn. He fiddles with the composition and then he shoots. It all feels so casual, but the composition is just perfect. I'm thinking about the ways that artists are always looking for compositions, the way objects speak to each other and create harmonies. Maybe Kertesz was thinking about that too? Or maybe he just liked the way it looked? But either way, this photograph is proof that sometimes, the simplest things are also the most beautiful. It's all about finding the harmony between things.
