Curator: This is an intriguing page alteration by Esq Tom Phillips. He's taken the text of an existing book page and transformed it into something altogether new. It has no title. Editor: My first thought is of a storm cloud. The way the text has been obscured and highlighted creates this turbulent, almost oppressive atmosphere. Curator: Exactly! Phillips uses these erasures and embellishments as a kind of visual poetry. Note how certain phrases are isolated in cloud-like forms, like the haunting line: "I will come to you once more a poet." Editor: The highlighted fragments become powerful symbols. Mrs. Schilizzi and her flower-like eyes suggest themes of memory, loss, and perhaps, a yearning for beauty amidst chaos. Curator: It's a testament to how potent words can be, even when partially concealed. He's showing us how we make meaning from fragments. Editor: This piece evokes a sense of rediscovering the magic hidden within the mundane. Curator: And sometimes, acknowledging the darkness is a part of finding that magic.
