Euromaidan 2014

Alevtyna Kakhidze made this artwork titled Euromaidan, with ink on paper. At first glance, one observes a deliberate chaos in the composition; a network of lines creating forms that barely contain themselves within the frame. There's a tension between representation and abstraction, as the eye attempts to decode the forms and their arrangements. The network of lines might suggest barricades or perhaps the emotional entanglements of political upheaval. Kakhidze seems to challenge the viewer. Are we looking at a depiction of physical space or an emotional landscape? Ultimately, this piece exists as a meditation on how we perceive and interpret reality through fragmented and abstracted forms. It acknowledges that what we see is always filtered through our own subjective lens, and invites us to question the stability of meaning in both art and life.
