Vessel c. 20th century

"Vessel" is a striking example of Tikar pottery, crafted in Cameroon during the 20th century. The ceramic piece features a rounded, bowl-shaped body adorned with intricate carvings of stylized human figures and geometric patterns. A smaller figure sits atop the vessel, adding to its visual complexity. The use of clay and the distinctive artistic motifs highlight the rich cultural heritage of the Tikar people, showcasing their skill in pottery and their symbolic use of human figures. The vessel is currently housed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
