This photograph, "Boeren werkend op een akker in Mungia," made by Delizy, captures farmers working a field, somewhere in Mungia. It’s monochromatic, so it’s all about tones and shades, which is kind of like painting without all the colours, just focusing on the essential shapes. What gets me about this image is the texture. Look at the way the light catches the furrows in the field, creating a pattern that's both rough and kind of orderly. The sepia tones add a softness, almost like a memory. Everything feels a little bit faded and nostalgic, like you're looking at a world that’s slowly disappearing. I think, how did they get that effect? It reminds me a bit of some of Camille Corot's landscapes, you know? The way he captured the light and the atmosphere. Of course, Corot was painting, but both artists are trying to capture something about the feeling of a place, not just what it looks like. It’s like art is always in conversation with itself, revisiting the same questions in different ways.
