Editor: This is an X-radiograph of "St. Sebastian," attributed to the School of Antonio de Saliba. It's a rather ghostly image. What do you find most striking about it? Curator: It's a peek beneath the surface, quite literally! The x-ray unveils secrets – pentimenti, areas reworked by the artist. It speaks to the artist's process, a sort of dialogue etched in lead white. What whispers do you hear within this hidden layer? Editor: I guess it shows the painting’s history, like an archeological dig but for art. I hadn't thought of art in that way before. Curator: Exactly! It reminds us that art isn’t just a finished product, but a journey. I like that.
