Lamouche made "De geschiedenis van Colombine" with some kind of printmaking technique. The colours are bright, like old comics, with clearly defined spaces, which brings me to thinking about the process of art making. It's cool how each section of this print tells part of a story in a comic-like way. The story is broken down into a grid structure with different vignettes, and there are so many things happening in each panel, it's a bit chaotic, but in a pleasing way. My eye is drawn to the panel in the centre right where Columbine is mid pirouette while a clown stands to the side watching her. I love the way the movement has been captured in her tutu. This feels a little like the work of the artist Balthus who was interested in capturing scenes from everyday life but injecting them with an air of mysteriousness. For me art is all about the multiple ways of seeing things, not nailing anything down too specifically.
