Editor: This is Paula Rego's "Drawing for 'The Dance'", and it looks like an ink wash on paper. The dancers have such strong, almost unsettling expressions. What can you tell me about it? Curator: It's fascinating how Rego uses what seems like a joyful scene to explore power dynamics. Notice the almost caricatured expressions and the spatial relationships between the figures. How do you think this piece challenges traditional depictions of dance and romance? Editor: I see what you mean! It's not the idealized waltz I expected. It feels more like a commentary on social roles. Thanks, that's a helpful insight.
