Jim Lambie's 1999 installation "Zobop" transforms an architectural space with a vibrant, colorful floor pattern. Utilizing the simple materials of colored tape, Lambie creates a mesmerizing, zig-zagging geometric pattern that draws the viewer's eye across the floor. The colorful stripes and geometric shapes are reminiscent of Minimalist and Op Art movements, which explored the visual effect of abstract forms and color. Lambie's work disrupts the typical function of the floor, turning it into an eye-catching and interactive work of art.
