This Longyi skirt was crafted anonymously, and it's now housed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. I can only imagine the meditative act of creating such intricate patterns on cloth. It reminds me of those moments in the studio when you're just lost in the rhythm of mark-making. Look closely, and you’ll see rows of these zigzags and dots in pale purple and yellow. I wonder what the artist was thinking about as they repeated these shapes. Were they thinking of water, of mountains, of rituals? Maybe they were just enjoying the play of color and form, letting the cloth come alive under their hands. It makes you consider the connection between design, craft, and the human touch. It's a reminder that art is all around us, woven into the fabric of our lives.
